I listened to this a lot when my college girlfriend moved overseas, it just hit the nail on the head, though it never depressed me. Sure, he's resigned to his fate, but that doesn't mean he's not hopeful, because who knows what fate may bring us? Might as well wish and see if that has any influence at all.
